Paw.com PupProtector – An Honest Review

September 29, 2022
September 29, 2022

The Pupprotector from paw.com is a waterproof, fluffy blanket that’s designed to keep things cleaner, easier to maintain, and look great whilst doing it – but does it?

My home is a busy home, sure there are only typically two people in our home, but with three dogs, and the work we do around the home (we’re on a constant home improvement mission as our home hasn’t been touched since the 70’s…), our furniture get’s a freaking work out.

Next big issue, our dogs are allowed on the sofa, and we have leather sofas… whilst one is a dog sofa from facebook marketplace, the other one? Is quite nice and I really don’t want to wreck it.

I’ve used a number of blankets before, but one that kept appearing on my feed was the PupProtector.

Gosh how cute does she look? Super peaceful, super happy, and just the cutest little coonhound.

And I was curious! Because it looked like it remedied a lot of my issues.

So I reached out to Paw.com and discussed it.

Please note this is a sponsored post, but it absolutely does not change my opinion of the product, i really like this and there’s very few things not to love about it!

Introducing The PupProtector

PupProtector from Paw.com
  • Looks great
  • Big enough for my 3-seater sofa
  • Robust
  • Soft & inviting
  • Something my dogs adore
  • Cosy hygge viges
  • protects my leather sofa

What I love About the PupProtector

My dogs love fluffy blankets

I do not know what this is, but whether it’s a sheep skin, or a faux fur blanket, fluff is where it’s at.

With Indie, I wonder if it throws back to being a puppy, and having fluffy brothers and sisters to keep him warm – but the hounds wouldn’t have had the same level of fluff and fuzz, and they (arguably) love it just as much if not more.

So this has gone down really well with all of my dogs.

It protects the leather sofa

Our sofa is super soft Italian leather (I’m not bragging, just painting a picture), and, one of the things that coonhounds have a wonderful set of, is claws. And worse? Lucy loves to dig her bed and nest, so this really doesn’t work that well when it comes to a leather sofa, and it’s how the previous sofa died, sadly (RIP, haha).

But the PupProtector? Has been absolutely perfect against the digging, the nuzzling, the pulling and pushing that my coonhounds put it through, there’s less scratches on my sofa. And that’s all down to the heavy backgrounding.

how freaking cute is this? It has a great texture and stays wonderfully neat and tidy, I must say!

Washable

It washes really well. I was worried with the white colour that it would be a problem with dirt, but it washes clean every time, and it’s not deteriorating either. It’s done a good number of washes and smells clean and fresh each time.

Tip! Remember, don’t use fabric softener on things for your dogs, even though it makes them smell pretty to us? It’s not great for them.

Waterproof

The waterproof backing works. So, wet dogs? No problem. An accident? No problem. Even if your doggo’s in her season! This is a super easy way to keep your furniture protected from stains or smells.

Hygge Vibes

Cosy, comfy and definitely what you want as we’re turning into fall. It provides comfort, cosy, and is easy to clean.

What I Don’t love about the PupProtector

Takes time to dry fully

I line dry anything that’s to do with the dogs whenever possible, because the sunshine helps kill dog smell, but the problem with the PupProtector is that because it’s so heavy and robust to fight against the dog claws, that it takes a long, long time to dry. Most of my blankets (even my heavy winter ones) dry in a couple of hours on my line – the pupprotector takes most of the day.

It Slips

I’m debating stitching in some nylon straps to go around the feet of the sofa (at the back?) to stop the top bit falling down religiously. It would be wonderful if there was something attached, or an attachment point at the corners in order to anchor to. Would be handy!

It is pricey

There’s no denying that it’s quite pricey. However! Paw.com is on honey, and they do do a lot of discounts (which really helps). But would I buy it at full price? Hmmm, it would be more of a debate. But I do really like it.

It Does Collect Burrs & Fur

So, grass burrs and things absolutely do get picked up by this blanket, it’s great that they get them out of my dogs coat, but now I’m spending time pulling them from the blanket instead. The problem (to me) is that they don’t wash out. It’s a little inconvenient, but it’s not the worst thing in the world.
Then, the back, does collect the short floofs from the hounds a lot, but, it’s not in sight, so I’m not … all that bothered?

Let sleeping hounds lie, huh? How cute is she? The hounds really love the fluff on this, even on the hottest summers days they’d curl up on here and be as happy as a clam.

Do I recommend the PupProtector blanket?

Heck yeah. I love this. It’s a phenomenal upgrade from a fleece-y blanket. Sure it takes longer to dry properly, but it also looks way better and my dogs love it more. Honestly. It’s a really great investment for dog parents.

Oh! I also used this as a Crate cover for July 4th for Shelby – she LOVED it, works really well as a sound dampener.

If you want your own PupProtector, you can head over to Amazon or Paw.com – and even better news? It delivers quick!
